of deception

Human Life International condemns the criticism levied by Catholics for a Free Choice
against the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

The Secretariat for Pro-Life Activities of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) recently began a pro-life campaign titled The Second Look Project. Through radio and transit posters in several cosmopolitan areas The Second Look Project presents basic facts about abortion in order to counter the conspiracy of silence and ignorance on the painful issue. Attorney Catherine Cleaver, spokesperson for the bishops, explained that project helps “people form opinions based on fact rather than emotion.” The USCCB hopes that they can reach “people who consider themselves ‘pro-choice’” and hopes that they “might take a ‘second look’ at what they think about abortion.”

The pro-abortion group with the deceptive name of “Catholics for a Free Choice” (CFFC), headed by Fran Kissling, is an organization whose membership consists of abortionists, former abortion clinic workers and members of radical feminist groups like the National Organization of Women. The Newhouse News Service reported that the CFFC had criticized the USCCB Second Look Project. “This is hardly a group that has any moral authority when it comes to educating women on the whole ugly reality of abortion,” said Father Euteneuer. “The pro-abort feminist leadership of CFFC looks more like the Ministry of Abortion Propaganda than an organization concerned about women,” he said.

In his new book Catholics for a Free Choice--Exposed, published by Human Life International, Dr. Brian Clowes fully exposes the whole sordid ideology, activities and finances of the CFFC. The organization undermines authentic Catholic teaching about the sanctity of human life, alleging falsely that a person can be both Catholic and pro-abortion. The group also violates the sovereignty of countries in Latin America by attempting to overturn abortion restrictions agreed upon by the peoples of those lands, who are mostly Catholic.

“We continue to pray for the souls of Ms. Kissling and her misguided friends. Perhaps some day they will stop pontificating on the issue of abortion and follow the guidance of real shepherds,” concluded Father Euteneuer.
